I came across this really neat wooden magazine tote while visiting my neighbor. His garage, full of super cool estate finds, had some leftovers and items that needed a little extra care. Missing its bottom panel, I was handed the tote and told to “make it work!”
I took it apart, repainted it a dark copper green and hammered it back together with vintage nails. Best yet, to soften the heaviness of the distressed piece, I hand lettered the French phrases for “I must read” (“Je dois lire”) and “I have read” (“J’ai lu”) in ecru.
I really love this piece and might not sell it. If I do, I may require shared custody.
